Job Title: Primary PE Specialist / Experienced Sports Coach

Contract Type:  Fixed-Term Contract (02/04/24 – 30/08/24)
This role may potentially develop into a full-time permanent contract, dependent on performance and future workload.

Hours: 35 hours per week term-time (approximate timings, Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm) and 40 hours per week in the school holidays (approximate timings, Mon-Thu 8am-6pm or Mon-Fri 8am-4pm)

Location: T4S Headquarters, Michelin Sports Centre, Rosetree Avenue, Trent Vale, SOT, ST4 6NL. This role will include a mixture of office-based activities, on-site coaching, and virtual coaching at locations across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

Job Role Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be employed to deliver Time4Sport services across primary schools and the wider community in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, including the National PE curriculum and health and wellbeing workshops. The position also includes the opportunity to deliver sport and physical activity sessions to children on our school holiday kids camps and support our holiday camp promotion which includes activity on social media and You Tube. There may also be opportunities to manage community projects, dependant on experience.

  • Plan and deliver high quality PE and extra-curricular activities for children/families
  • Deliver our high-quality health and wellbeing projects, ensuring they meet the minimum standards as well as the needs of clients/partners
  • Undertake a camp co-ordinator role on our school holiday kids camps
  • Promote active and healthy lifestyles to individuals, families and diverse groups
  • Build and develop constructive relationships with key customers
  • Develop and maintain close links with all sectors of the community and local employers
  • Ensure the smooth running of our programmes in the interests of sustaining business relationships
  • Be alert to the safeguarding of young people and children, raising any issues and concerns
  • Take positive steps and identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst children, prioritising access and inclusion
  • Manage children’s behaviour to ensure a positive learning environment
  • To carry out duties in accordance with awarding organisation policies including equal opportunities, child protection and health and safety
  • To attend appropriate professional development training sessions
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children to participate in sport and physical activity
  • To be a positive ambassador for Time4Sport and demonstrate our company values
  • Assist with promotion/marketing of Time4Sport products and services

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • A degree in PE/Sports coaching and/or a B’Ed or PGCE with QTS or a Level 4 School Sports Coach Qualification
  • Sound knowledge of child development and the National curriculum for Physical Education from EYFS-KS2
  • Knowledge of how to live a healthy lifestyle
  • GCSE Maths and English (minimum Grade C or 4)
  • A clean enhanced DBS
  • A passion for inspiring the next generation through PE, physical activity and sport
  • An excellent communicator, organised and adaptable, honest and sincere
  • Ambitious, with a drive to improve
  • Hard-working
  • Customer focussed
  • A team player

 

Desirable – due to the role being fixed-term, it would be advantageous if the applicant possesses the following qualifications/skills.

  • Level 2 Multi-Skills and/or other sports
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Level 2 Safeguarding Children in Sport
  • An understanding of and interest in health-related physical activity, healthy eating and health-related behaviour change
  • Other skills – classroom and behaviour management, resolving conflict, motivational skills.
